Grocery Shopping 2

Because of the Great Chicken Bonanza of Twenty-Ten, the budget for this go-around was reduced to $52.44 for 2 weeks worth of food...let's see how it went:

Farmer's Market:
$1.22 Organic Bananas (2.07lb@.59/lb)
$3.69 Organic Fuji Small Apples (3 lb bag)
$0.91 Shallots (0.48lb@1.89/lb)

$0.79 Kale (.79/bunch)
$0.79 Mustard Greens (.79/bunch)
$0.79 Turnip Greens (.79/bunch)
$2.49 2lbs peeled baby carrots
$2.37 Sugar Snap Peas (.68lb@3.69/lb)
$0.79 Yellow Onion (1.62lb@.49/lb)
$3.50 Peru Grain Quinoa (1.53lb@2.29/lb)
$1.47 Delta Star Parboiled Rice (1.865lb@.79/lb)
$1.84 California Koku Rice Yellow (2.065lb@.89/lb)

$1.59 Split Red Lentil (1.23lb@1.29/lb)
$1.72 Navy Beans (1.735lb@.99/lb)
$4.89 Georgia Pecan Pieces (.55lb@8.89/lb)
$3.65 Turkish Diced Organic Hazelnuts (.69lb@5.29/lb)
Tax: $0.75
Total: $38.04

Publix:
$3.29 Publix Raisins
$0.76 2 Publix Iodized Salt (.38 each)
$2.99 2 Quaker mini rice cake packages (2 for 2.99)
$2.99 Publix Old Fashioned Oats
$1.95 1/2 gallon Publix milk
$4.94 4 Peter Pan Peanut Butters (2 for 2.47)
$1.29 Canned Chick Peas
$3.49 12 oz. sliced bacon
Tax: $0.43
Total: $22.13

Huh, not too shabby.  So, for 2 weeks of groceries, we're looking at $60.17.  This is 8.5 cents over my goal of $30/week for groceries, but I'll take that considering I have enough grains/nuts to keep me in fine form for far longer than 2 weeks.  Of course, that means that for this whole month's worth of groceries, I'm $7.73 over budget...or I overshot each week by $1.93. Not the most auspicious start, but perhaps I can take it out of next month's food budget.  At some point, I'll just have to write it off as part of the imperfection of life.  It does stick in the craw though...
