Grocery Shopping #1

So, here were the deals/rip-offs from this week...I typically shop for ~ 2 weeks worth of food. Particularly surprising deal -- $0.99/lb chicken breast! I blew my budget for this trip on that, but now I won't need to buy chicken for a month!

Farmers Market:
$0.64 Fancy Eggplant (1.09lb@.59/lb)
$0.95 Fancy Zucchini (1.07lb@.89/lb)
$0.76 Yellow Onion (1.28lb@.59/lb)
$4.54 Sugar Snap Peas (1.3 lbs@3.49/lb)
$1.01 Green Bell Pepper (.78lb@1.29/lb)
$1.71 Red Bell Pepper (1.15lb@1.49/lb*)
$1.78 Hass Avocado (2@.89 each)
$0.96 Garlic (.32lb@2.99/lb)
$1.16 Yellow Squash (1.17lbs@.99/lb)
$2.49 Baby Carrots (2 lbs)
$2.66 Red Globe Grapes (1.97lbs@1.69/lb+20%discount)
$1.39 Acorn Squash (1.56lbs@.89/lb)
$1.29 Mango (1@$1.29 each)
$2.62 Braeburn Apples (2.03lbs@1.29/lb)
Tax: $0.48
Total: $24.44

*Grr....they totally rang up the wrong kind of red bell pepper, it was supposed to be $1.29/lb like the green.  Too late now...always watch like a hawk at the grocery store.  Also, talk about being at the mercy of the store!  I had to really search for not bruised/overripe produce!  This stuff has to ripen slowly and last in the fridge to make it through until my next paycheck.  Ugh.

Kroger
$3.62 Split Chicken Breast (.99/lb)
$3.26 Split Chicken Breast (.99/lb)
$4.23 Whole Fryer Chicken (.98/lb)
$4.00 String Cheese (16 sticks at $.25/stick)
$1.99 Low Sodium Beef Broth (32 oz)
$1.85 1/2 gallon 2% Milk
$2.49 Canola Oil
$1.59 Ragu Alfredo Sauce
$1.00 Canned Corn (2/$1)
$1.50 Mixed Veggies (2/$1)
$2.99 Leibniz Cookies*
Tax: $1.73
Total: $30.25

*I actually wanted Rich Tea Biscuits, but they didn't have them in stock. :(

Publix
$1.65 Half&Half
$3.49 Unsalted Butter (1lb)
$1.89 Rich Tea Biscuits (hey hey!)
$1.89 Rich Tea Biscuits (shouldn't have bought the Leibniz)
$3.70 Tomatoes on the vine (1.86lbs@1.99/lb)
Tax: $0.25
Total: $12.87

Sweet Jesus. $67.56 for 2 weeks worth of groceries...$33.78 a week; $4.83/day.  Yikes.   I am $3.78 over my goal of $30/week in groceries BUT I bought ~11lbs of chicken which I'll be freezing.  And I'm happy to spend a little extra for the amount of fresh produce bought.  Here's hoping that the next trip will be meat-free and a tad cheaper for it.
